Crittendenceratops
Crittendenceratops was a horned dinosaur that lived in what is now Arizona, USA, about 73 million years ago. It had a big frill on its head with hook-like flanges and was a plant-eater. This dinosaur is the first one ever given a scientific name from the Fort Crittenden Formation.16

Mfundo zosangalatsa
Crittendenceratops had forward-curving, hook-like flanges along the top of its frill, which were nearly the size of the epiparietal bones.12
It belonged to a group of horned dinosaurs called Nasutoceratopsini, which also includes Avaceratops, Nasutoceratops, and Yehuecauhceratops.1
The fossils of Crittendenceratops were found in the shale member of the Fort Crittenden Formation, which was deposited by rivers, lakes, and alluvial fans.2
The species name krzyzanowskii honors Stan Krzyzanowski, who discovered and collected the specimen.2
Crittendenceratops lived during the late Campanian stage of the Cretaceous, about 73 million years ago.12
The frill of Crittendenceratops had at least five epiparietal loci around its margin, which are typical of centrosaurine ceratopsids.2

- Crittendenceratops was named by Sebastian G. Dalman and colleagues in 2018 based on partial skull bones from two individuals found in the Fort Crittenden Formation of Arizona. The species name honors Stan Krzyzanowski, who discovered the fossils.62

- Scientists are still debating whether the presence of Crittendenceratops in Arizona weakens the idea of separate northern and southern dinosaur provinces in ancient North America.2
