Pachagnathus
Pachagnathus was a flying reptile that lived in what is now Argentina during the Late Triassic. It is one of the first pterosaurs ever found in the southern half of the world.12

Pachagnathus is known only from a piece of its lower jaw, which is 61.5 mm long and very narrow.1
Its lower jaw has a strange ridge that switches between a single line and a pair of lines between the teeth. No other pterosaur has this.1
Pachagnathus lived far from the coast, in a dry inland area. Most early pterosaurs lived near the sea.1
It was named in 2022, making it a very recently discovered pterosaur.1

- Pachagnathus was named in 2022 by Ricardo N. Martínez and colleagues. The only fossil, a piece of lower jaw, was found between 2012 and 2014 in Argentina.1
