Kangnasaurus was named in 1915 by scientist Sidney H. Haughton.1
The only known tooth of Kangnasaurus was found 34 metres deep in a well on a farm.1
Scientists once thought Kangnasaurus lived in the Early Cretaceous, but now they think it lived in the Late Cretaceous, between about 80 and 66 million years ago.1
Kangnasaurus belongs to a group of ornithopods called Elasmarians, which were mostly small, fast plant-eaters.13
Besides a tooth, a few thigh bones and other leg bones have been found that might belong to Kangnasaurus.1
The species name coetzeei honors the farmer Coetzee, on whose land the fossil was discovered.1

?How big was Kangnasaurus?
Nobody knows for sure because only a tooth and a few leg bones have been found. It was probably a small, bipedal plant-eater, like other elasmarians.13
?What did Kangnasaurus eat?
It ate plants. It had a beak for nibbling plants and was a herbivore that walked on two legs.13
?When did Kangnasaurus live?
It lived in the Late Cretaceous, between about 80 and 66 million years ago. That is the Campanian to Maastrichtian ages.1
