1

Judinornis was a member of the Hesperornithes, a group of flightless, toothed seabirds from the Cretaceous period.1

2

Unlike many of its relatives that lived in the sea, Judinornis lived in rivers and estuaries in what is now Mongolia.1

3

Judinornis probably lived about 70 million years ago, during the early Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous.1

4

Its fossils were found in the Nemegt Formation, which was formed from sediments deposited by rivers in a dry landscape.1

5

Judinornis is known from only a single species, Judinornis nogontsavensis.1
