Fun facts
Crittendenceratops had forward-curving, hook-like flanges along the top of its frill, which were nearly the size of the epiparietal bones.12
It belonged to a group of horned dinosaurs called Nasutoceratopsini, which also includes Avaceratops, Nasutoceratops, and Yehuecauhceratops.1
The fossils of Crittendenceratops were found in the shale member of the Fort Crittenden Formation, which was deposited by rivers, lakes, and alluvial fans.2
The species name krzyzanowskii honors Stan Krzyzanowski, who discovered and collected the specimen.2
Crittendenceratops lived during the late Campanian stage of the Cretaceous, about 73 million years ago.12
The frill of Crittendenceratops had at least five epiparietal loci around its margin, which are typical of centrosaurine ceratopsids.2
