Erlikosaurus
Erlikosaurus was a feathered dinosaur related to the giant-clawed therizinosaurs. It had a beak at the front of its mouth, but also small cheek teeth. Scientists think it used its beak to snip plants and then chewed with its teeth.12

Fun facts
Erlikosaurus is known from a nearly complete skull, which is one of the most complete therizinosaur skulls ever found.1
Its feet had four toes, with the first toe attached to the ankle. Most theropods have a tiny first toe.1
It lived about 96 to 89 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous Period.1
Erlikosaurus was a small therizinosaur, about 3.4 metres long and roughly 150 to 250 kilograms.1
Like other therizinosaurs, it probably had feathers, based on fossils of its relatives Beipiaosaurus and Jianchangosaurus.1

Most asked questions about Erlikosaurus
?How big was Erlikosaurus?
Erlikosaurus was a small therizinosaur, about 3.4 metres (11 feet) long and weighing between 150 and 250 kilograms (330 to 550 pounds). Some estimates suggest it could have been up to 6 metres (20 feet) long.13
?What did Erlikosaurus eat?
Erlikosaurus was an herbivore or omnivore. It used its beak to snip plants and then chewed with its small cheek teeth.13
?Did Erlikosaurus have feathers?
Yes, it probably had feathers. This is based on feather impressions found on fossils of its relatives Beipiaosaurus and Jianchangosaurus.1
?When did Erlikosaurus live?
Erlikosaurus lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, about 96 to 89 million years ago.13
?Where was Erlikosaurus found?
Its fossils were found in the Bayan Shireh Formation of Mongolia, in the Ömnögovi Province.1
