Fun facts
Hulsanpes is known from only a partial braincase and a few foot bones, making it one of the most mysterious raptors.1
The name Hulsanpes means 'Khulsan foot' because its fossils were found at a place called Khulsan in the Gobi Desert.1
Scientists think Hulsanpes was a young animal when it died, because its bones look rough and not fully grown.1
Hulsanpes belonged to a group called Halszkaraptorinae, which includes dinosaurs that may have lived partly in water.1
Its foot bones were slender and not fused together, which helped it run fast on the ground.1
Hulsanpes lived about 75 to 72 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous period.1
