Judiceratops
Judiceratops was a horned dinosaur that lived about 78 million years ago in what is now Montana, USA. It was a plant-eater that walked on all four legs and had a big frill on its head. It is the oldest known member of the chasmosaurine group of horned dinosaurs.1
When did it live?
Fun facts
Judiceratops had unusual teardrop-shaped horns above its eyes, a shape not seen in other horned dinosaurs.1
Its frill had large wing-like hornlets on the sides and small bumps on the back edge.1
Judiceratops lived alongside many other dinosaurs, including the horned dinosaurs Albertaceratops and Medusaceratops, and the predator Gorgosaurus.1
The first fossils of Judiceratops were found in a place called Skull Crest in Montana.4
Scientists think Judiceratops evolved quickly, because it appears in the fossil record soon after the earliest horned dinosaurs in North America.1
Judiceratops is known from only a few skull fragments, so its full size is still unknown.2

Most asked questions about Judiceratops
?How big was Judiceratops?
Nobody knows for sure. Judiceratops is known from only a few skull fragments, so its full size is still unknown.1
?What did Judiceratops eat?
Judiceratops was a plant-eater. It likely fed on low-growing vegetation, such as ferns, like other horned dinosaurs.3
?When did Judiceratops live?
Judiceratops lived about 78 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous Period.1
?Where was Judiceratops found?
