Choyrodon had an open hole in its skull called an antorbital fenestra, which is a primitive feature, but it also had advanced features like a downturned jaw and a big nostril opening.3
The type specimen of Choyrodon was a subadult when it died, meaning it was not fully grown.3
Choyrodon lived in the same place and time as another plant-eating dinosaur called Altirhinus, but they were different species.3
Scientists think Choyrodon was closely related to a North American dinosaur called Eolambia.3
Choyrodon had a beak with a flattened bottom edge and a row of small holes along the side, which is unusual.3
The fossils of Choyrodon were found in rocks that are about 110 to 100 million years old, from the Albian age of the Early Cretaceous.2

- Three partial skeletons were found in Mongolia by an expedition led by Mongolian paleontologist Rinchen Barsbold. In 2018, American paleontologist Terry Gates and colleagues named the dinosaur Choyrodon barsboldi, honoring Barsbold.13
