Ningchengopterus was a tiny flying reptile that lived in what is now China. It had about 50 sharp teeth and a long, pointy snout. Even as a baby, it could fly right after hatching!1

Ningchengopterus had 50 teeth: 12 in each upper jaw and 13 in each lower jaw.1

Ningchengopterus was named and described by Chinese paleontologist Lü Junchang in 2009. The only fossil is a nearly complete skeleton of a hatchling, found in the Yixian Formation of Inner Mongolia.13

Scientists are not sure which group of pterosaurs Ningchengopterus belongs to. It might be related to the ctenochasmatids, but the evidence is not strong enough.1
