Hexinlusaurus was first thought to be a species of Yandusaurus, but scientists later gave it its own name in 2005.1
Its name honors Professor He Xin-Lu, who first described the fossils.1
The only known fossils include a nearly complete skull and some bones from the rest of the body.1
It lived during the Middle Jurassic, about 170 to 155 million years ago.2
