Fun facts
Levnesovia is one of the oldest known duck-billed dinosaurs, living about 90 million years ago.2
Its name honors Lev Nessov, a famous Russian paleontologist who studied dinosaurs from Central Asia.1
Levnesovia had a tall crest on its skull, which helped scientists tell it apart from its close relative Bactrosaurus.2
Unlike some later duck-billed dinosaurs, adult Levnesovia did not have club-shaped spines on their backbones.2
Fossils of Levnesovia include parts of the skull, jaws, and many bones from the rest of the body.1
