Kuszholia lived about 90 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous Period.1

Its name comes from the Kazakh words for 'Milky Way bird'.1

Scientists only know Kuszholia from a few small vertebrae, which have hollow chambers inside them.1

Russian paleontologist Lev Nesov named Kuszholia in 1992.1

Some scientists think Kuszholia was an early bird, while others believe it was a close relative of birds.1
